Imagine yourself in a boat, being paddled up to the base of a mountain. You are on this journey because a friend has told you about this place you’d really like to visit! Up that way, the friend had pointed toward this mountain. The journey looks challenging, but doable. Always up for a challenge anyways! As you get to the top of the moutain, your met by an endless range of mountain peeks. Your gut tells you that your destination was not the top of the moutain as you had hoped and planned for, but what looks like hundreds of miles along an icy ridge snaking up and down and along the moutain range. Slipping down either side surely means a lot of pain! As you look behind you, you see a really nice looking town set into the valley. It looks so warm and inviting compared to the cold, blustery wind at the top. Whats keeping you from retreating back down? The hope of reaching a place where there is no pain, no darkness, no more tears, a feeling of complete wholeness! A place like that, must certainly be worth the effort, even if it means death! To travel the path, you must rid yourself of any unnecessary weight, and yet also be equipped with all the right tools.
Can you relate to the little story? I sure can! It feels like this summarizes the Penner’s last couple years fairly well. Our big lesson has been to place our hope in the Lord and for whats to come in His Kingdom! The journey is hard, the road is narrow, yet the Word of God lights our path. All six of us look forward to shining our lights along the windswept mountain ridges helping the campers and staff set their hope, on the only ONE who can sustain them through whatever has and will come their way!!
